Hey there, I’m Em!

Great to meet you! I’m a transmasc non-binary personal trainer and nutritionist dedicated to reshaping fitness into something accessible and inclusive to my entire queer family.

I built NRG Fitness so trans and non-binary superhumans can thrive and work on their journey’s together, with support from their community. So welcome to the club!

With over 7 years of personal training experience and a 4-year bachelor’s degree in nutrition, I strive to inspire our community to be the best version of themselves.

I haven’t always had is this way though. Before I started NRG I was working 3 jobs to make ends meet, at times all in the same day. I was simultaneously posting on instagram as I’ve always been into fitness, but never found a community I connected with. After some time, others generated interest in my “not so stereotypical AFAB body”, I loved building muscle and feeling strong. I continued to post and connect with others like me, I quit my jobs, and thus NRG Fitness was born. I pursued my passion for sharing my fitness style, building the body I always wanted, and helping others achieve theirs too.

So with that being said! My purpose here is:

  • To offer accessible, compassionate coaching that meets people where they are at, accommodating for their lifestyle and needs. We all live our lives differently, and that's okay.
  • To give people autonomy and positively empower others to build confidence in yourself, your body, and your fitness - your entire life - and take their reins on your own journey. We will work together, step-by-step to make your dreams a reality.
  • To create an environment built on respect that is completely judgement free, regardless of starting point, background, or ability. Everyone is welcome here.

  • Online coaching is done through my interactive custom NRG app!

    This means all of your follow-along workouts will be through the app. You perform each exercise, plug in your weight and reps, rate the workout, and submit! Simple as that!

    After we’ve spoken and decided your starting point, I program all your workouts into an app. It’s completely up to you when you do the sessions, and you can move them around on the schedule as much as you want and need. Life happens and we work together and adapt when we need to.

    This is why online coaching can be way more convenient to people that in person PT sessions, because you can have far more flexibility with the time that you go to the gym, and aren’t just fighting for the busy early morning or evening sessions. It is a super modern way to train, get the exact workouts you want with a coach to support you along the way, all in your pocket!

  • Absolutely not! I’m happy to take on anyone that wants to train at home, or at the gym, even if you have no equipment. Whatever you have I can make work for your goals.

    I definitely recommend some dumbbells (adjustable are a great bang for your buck) and resistance bands if possible, but if you wanted to start off bodyweight only, we can do that too!

  • Yes, this is my expertise and one of my favourite things to help with as a trainer. I have helped tons of individuals prepare and recovery from top surgery. As someone who has gone through it personally, I know what every stage is like and what is required for the greatest success and results from your surgery and training. I recommend coming to me around 4-6 months before top surgery (or sooner to get the even more gains going), so we have plenty of time to build strong habits and strength. For post-op I recommend at least 6 weeks and onwards for your recovery support and reintegrating exercise into your lifestyle. Step-by-step we’ll get you back in the game, safely and effectively.

  • What I love about fitness is that it ives us the control to build the body that we’ve envisioned for ourselves. Every workout we can chip away at our masterpiece, gain confidence, and bring that vision to life. We can do this whether you are planing to have gender affirming care or not, so don’t worry if you aren’t planning on having top surgery or taking hormones. Your journey is completely and beautifully your own. I actually built 90% of my body and muscle without gender affirming care.

    Everyone has different views on what makes them feel euphoric in their body, and what affirms their gender. If it’s broad shoulders, a V-taper back, vascular arms, less curves, narrow waist, stronger legs, pumped arms - whatever it may be that feels good to you, I’ll help get you there.

    I work with everyone based on what they want out of their training with completey personalized programs. Body recomposition and/or building muscle takes time, so my job is to make that process as sustainable and as enjoyable as possible for you. I want all my people to enjoy their training, feel good, and motivates for their next workout - so don’t worry you won’t be doing 100 burpees a day ;)

    I meet you where you’re at, and design a workout program that fits with your lifestyle and that you will enjoy.

  • In my NRG app every movement I give you for a workout has an exercise video and description of how to do the movement safely and effectively.

    I also do regular check-ins so if you have questions about any exercise and you’re comfortable recording movements you’re wanting feedback on, I will provide you with written tips, voice notes and/or video feedback on them whenever you need so you know what to adjust to nail that form!

  • Yes! Not only do I do custom app workouts and programs, but I also have tons of personally designed workout plans you can follow. With equipment options of gym access, dumbbells, or bodyweight only - with goals of building muscle, losing weight, or crafting a more masculine physique - you can find a workout plan that aligns with your equipment and goals.
